Glenwood Elementary School is a traditional PreK-8 elementary located in the historic Old West End. Our school works collaboratively to provide students and families a structured, safe, and disciplined environment. We pride ourselves in being culturally relevant by having an Afrocentric focus, which provides students with a well-rounded PreK-8 public education which not only transforms the student experience, but also empowers the whole student and community at-large through an understanding of past and present African-American cultural contributions.

Additionally, we pride ourselves in being an AVID school, providing students with evidence-based instructional practices, which prepare them for college and career readiness and closing the opportunity gap. Our staff is trained in these practices as well as Social Emotional Learning and Trauma Informed practices to ensure we are reaching the whole-child. Students and families will be engaged through our various family night activities, parent-teacher conferences, and other events designed to build and foster positive and collaborative relationships.

Glenwood has several community partnerships with local businesses which provide financial support, school supplies, and other resources for our students and staff. These partners include, but are not limited to:

  • New Concepts for Behavioral & Mental Health
  • Full Time School Nurse
  • Amerihealth for Medical & Health Needs
  • Local Fraternities and Sororities
  • Job and Family Services Attendance Champion
  • LEGO Club
  • Art Tatum Zone
  • The Tabernacle Church
  • Temple of Praise Church
  • Macedonia Baptist Church
  • Glenwood Lutheran Church

By maintaining a growth mindset, we begin each day as a new day and a fresh start for all.
